Unveiling of the Bride (or another shower poem)
i thought i’d gotten lucky
beat the odds
found love
it has taken 20 years to strip me of that illusion
20 years
one particle
one quark
one neutrino at a time
until all i have left is the realization
that I have spent my life as
a cliché
on the radio a woman/my sister decried
i am a hundred years older today than i was yesterday
reminding me that there are millions of ways
to be stoned to death
and i am lucky not to be her.
beat the odds
found love
REAL
love.it has taken 20 years to strip me of that illusion
20 years
one particle
one quark
one neutrino at a time
until all i have left is the realization
that I have spent my life as
a cliché
i had never wanted to be this small.
on the radio a woman/my sister decried
i am a hundred years older today than i was yesterday
reminding me that there are millions of ways
to be stoned to death
and i am lucky not to be her.
